What Are TVET Internships?

TVET internships are designed to help unemployed students from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges gain hands-on experience in various fields. This initiative is part of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Department of Social Development’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment by fostering skills development. These internships are conducted in collaboration with the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA).

Who Can Apply for These TVET Internships?

The internship is open to TVET college students who have successfully completed their N6 qualification. Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Have completed the N6 qualification and are waiting to gain work experience.
  • Have not previously participated in a Work Integrated Learning Programme with any level of government (National, Provincial, or Local).
  • Be prepared to relocate to any of the listed offices across KwaZulu-Natal at their own cost.
  • Be computer literate and ready to undergo a structured interview process.

Internship Placement Locations

Internship placements are available at various offices throughout KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants can specify their preferred placement area between the Head Office in Pietermaritzburg or any of the twelve district offices. It’s important to note that applicants must be willing to relocate to their assigned placement location.

Application Process and Requirements

Interested candidates must submit their applications using the official Z83 form. You can obtain this form online or from any government office. Make sure your application includes the following:

  1. A fully completed Z83 form.
  2. A detailed CV with your contact number, physical and postal address.
  3. Copies of your ID and qualifications, including the N6 Certificate (not a statement of results).
  4. Proof of residence.
  5. An affidavit confirming that you have not benefited from any previous internship programs.
