Job Title: Administration Clerk (DCRS) | Reference No: 2024/173/OCJ
Salary: R216 417 – R254 928 per annum (Level 05)
The successful applicant will be required to sign a performance agreement. This role is based in the KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court, located in Pietermaritzburg.
Minimum Requirements for the Administration Clerk Role
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following basic qualifications:
- Matric Certificate or Equivalent Qualification: A high school diploma or equivalent certification is mandatory.
- Experience in Administrative or Clerical Functions: Prior experience in an administrative or clerical role, particularly within a court environment, will be advantageous.
- Technical Skills: The ability to operate a recording machine is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities of the Administration Clerk
The Administration Clerk role is vital to the smooth functioning of the court system. Some of the core responsibilities include:
- Preparing and Operating Court Recording Equipment: Set up and ensure that the recording machine and microphones are functioning before court proceedings begin. Report any malfunctions promptly.
- Monitor Recordings: Ensure that all voices in the courtroom are audible during recordings and that the system is functioning optimally throughout the court session.
- Exporting and Downloading Court Proceedings: Export case files and download recorded proceedings onto RW-CDs for transcription and archival purposes.
- Transcription Requests: Maintain records of all transcription requests and accurately document the time spent on each case.
- Document Scanning and Data Capturing: Scan legal documents and capture essential data as required by the Judiciary or Court Manager.
- Administrative Support: Offer general administrative support as needed by the Judiciary, Court Manager, and direct supervisors.
