Key Responsibilities
As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for:
- Invoice and Claim Management: Receiving, recording, and reconciling all invoices and claims to ensure accuracy before processing payments.
- Payment Processing: Capturing payments on systems such as LOGIS, BAS, and PERSAL, and ensuring timely processing within prescribed deadlines.
- Account Reconciliation: Clearing salary-related suspense accounts, addressing PERSAL exceptions daily, and reconciling payroll and key accounts monthly.
- Financial Reporting: Preparing accruals, payables, and ensuring documents are audit-ready.
- Document Management: Administering payment stubs and maintaining organized filing systems for all financial documents.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) recognized by SAQA. An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Financial Management, Accounting, Cost Management Accounting, or Economics is advantageous.
- Experience: One to two years in Financial Accounting Services is beneficial.
- Licensing: A valid driver’s license is required, except for individuals with disabilities.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Legislative Framework: Comprehensive understanding of public service legislation, including the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and the Division of Revenue Act.
- System Proficiency: Basic knowledge of LOGIS, BAS, and PERSAL systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities, client orientation, and customer focus.
- Personal Attributes: Ability to work independently, handle pressure, and demonstrate problem-solving capabilities.
