Key Responsibilities of the Camp Driver
As a Camp Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of transport services within the camp and beyond. The responsibilities include:
1. Transportation Duties
- Operate and maintain the camp vehicle for daily activities.
- Accurately complete the trip sheet each day.
- Transport personnel, guests, and officials to designated locations.
- Deliver equipment, goods, and other necessary supplies safely within and outside the park.
2. Medical & Emergency Transport
- Transfer staff members to medical facilities outside the park when needed.
- Ensure that emergency transport services are executed promptly and efficiently.
3. Camp Logistics Support
- Collect and distribute linens and other essential supplies for the camp.
- Assist in general maintenance and support tasks when driving services are not required.
4. Vehicle Maintenance and Reporting
- Conduct daily vehicle checks using a pre-defined inspection sheet.
- Report any mechanical defaults, damages, or accidents immediately.
- Maintain an up-to-date monthly vehicle log sheet.
Minimum Job Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Driver’s License: Valid Code 10 (C) License with a current Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional driving experience.
- Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Environmental Awareness: Basic knowledge of conservation and environmental policies is advantageous.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work under pressure.
