Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Academic and Personal Requirements
- Education: Matriculation/Grade 12 qualification (Mathematics and Physical Science are highly preferred).
- Age: 18 years or older.
- Fitness: Must be medically and physically fit to perform fire fighting duties.
- Team Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and handle high-pressure situations.
- Criminal Record: No criminal record.
Physical Fitness Tests
All shortlisted candidates must pass a series of rigorous physical fitness assessments, including:
- Reach Test: Ability to reach a height of 1.9 meters.
- 2.4 km Run: Completed within 11 minutes for males and 13 minutes for females.
- Strength Tests:
- Push-ups: 30 repetitions in 60 seconds.
- Sit-ups: 30 repetitions in 60 seconds.
- Dead Load Carry: Transport two 25 kg drums over a distance of 100 meters.

Additional Screening and Evaluation
Candidates who pass the physical assessments will proceed to:
- Written Assessment: Evaluate knowledge and critical thinking skills.

- Background Check: Fingerprint submission for criminal record verification.
- Medical Evaluation: Conducted by City–approved medical professionals.
