This role requires a responsible and dedicated individual to contribute to the upkeep of the Olifants Rest Camp, ensuring that visitors enjoy a comfortable and clean environment. Reporting directly to the camp supervisor, the General Worker will play an important part in maintaining standards across various facilities, including chalets and communal areas.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Educational Qualification
    • Must possess a Matric certificate.
  2. Key Skills and Abilities
    • Strong housekeeping and hygienic practices are essential.
    • Awareness of workplace health and safety standards.
    • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
    • Prior supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
    • Familiarity with the use and maintenance of various tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

The General Worker will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to the overall upkeep and operation of the Olifants Rest Camp. These tasks include:

  1. Cleaning and Housekeeping
    • Ensure that chalets, restrooms, and surrounding areas meet the required cleanliness standards.
    • Perform daily cleaning routines with attention to detail, ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of guests.
  2. Inventory Control
    • Assist with managing the camp’s inventory of cleaning supplies and other materials.
    • Regularly check inventory levels and report any discrepancies or shortages to the supervisor.
  3. Maintenance and Reporting
    • Report any malfunctions, maintenance issues, or damage to equipment and facilities.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team to address repairs or replacements.
  4. Assisting with Supply Management
    • Help gather supplies and materials when necessary, ensuring that the camp is always well-stocked.
  5. General Camp Support
    • Support general camp activities, which may include setting up for events or assisting with guest inquiries.
    • Aid with camp laundry tasks, ensuring cleanliness and timely availability of linen and other items.
