Purpose of the Role – Officer Payroll
The Officer Payroll will play a vital role in maintaining and managing the SAP HR/PY system. By efficiently addressing payroll-related inquiries, you will ensure all payments are accurate and timely. This position is crucial for fostering trust and consistency in employee compensation and third-party transactions.
Key Responsibilities – Officer Payroll
1. Accurate Data Entry and Payroll Processing
- Record daily and monthly employee information, including overtime, allowances, absenteeism, and bonuses for three payrolls.
- Enter details of new hires into the SAP HR/PY system to ensure seamless integration into the payroll system.
- Process employee terminations such as retirements, resignations, and dismissals across three payrolls.
2. Third-Party Payments and Deductions
- Manage input for third-party payments like loans, medical aid contributions, pension funds, and garnishee orders.
- Handle adjustments to employee master data, including address updates and banking information, ensuring accuracy for payroll processing.
3. Special Payroll Processing
- Maintain separate payroll data for insourced employees paid via the City of Johannesburg payroll system.
- Process payroll payment recalls and rejections, such as housing bonds and salary adjustments.
4. Collaboration and Communication
- Liaise with medical aid providers and financial institutions to ensure smooth transactions.
- Provide employment verification and respond to reference checks conducted by financial institutions.
- Assist with employee inquiries, offering accurate and prompt resolutions to their concerns.
5. Compliance and Reporting
- Calculate termination pay and facilitate SARS tax directives for each case.
- Ensure all payroll-related documentation is correctly filed, both physically and electronically.
- Adhere strictly to relevant legislation, company policies, and procedures.

Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Matric (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics.
- Experience: Minimum of two years in SAP payroll administration and third-party payment processing.
- Technical Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP HR/PY systems.
