Key Responsibilities
As a Security Guard at Kruger National Park, you will be responsible for maintaining safety, monitoring access control, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
🔹 Park and Infrastructure Security
- Ensuring the protection of the park’s infrastructure and assets against any security threats.
- Reporting any suspicious activities to security supervisors or management.
- Conducting routine patrols to prevent unauthorized entry and illegal activities.
🔹 Access Control & Monitoring
- Checking and recording visitor and employee entries at designated access points.
- Conducting random searches of vehicles entering and leaving the park.
- Enforcing strict access control to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
🔹 Incident Management & Reporting
- Responding to emergency situations and security breaches promptly.
- Reporting any unusual occurrences to the Shift Supervisor, Chief Security Officer, or Protection Services Manager.
- Assisting in crowd control during high-traffic periods or special events.
🔹 Safety and First Aid Support
- Providing first aid assistance in case of injuries or emergencies.
- Ensuring firearms and other security equipment are used correctly and safely.
- Assisting in handling wildlife crime incidents and supporting conservation efforts.
Job Requirements
To be considered for the Security Guard position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
📌 Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate
- Grade C, D, and E Security Certificate with a valid PSIRA registration.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a security guard.
📌 Technical & Practical Skills:
- Proficiency in using security monitoring equipment and technology.
- Ability to conduct building security inspections and detect security threats.
- Strong surveillance skills with attention to detail.
- Firearm competency is an added advantage.
📌 Additional Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License (mandatory for patrol duties).
- Physically fit and able to pass a fitness assessment.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to act decisively in high-pressure situations.
