Job Overview
SANParks is looking for a dedicated and skilled Security Guard to join the Protection Services team at Kruger National Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing the park’s infrastructure, ensuring safety, and preventing unauthorized activities. This role reports directly to the Security Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
✅ Education: Grade 12 (Matric)
✅ Security Certification: Minimum Grade C, D, and E Security Certificate with valid PSIRA registration
✅ Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Security Guard
✅ Security Equipment Knowledge: Ability to operate security tools and devices
✅ Wildlife Crime Awareness: Understanding of conservation security
✅ Driver’s License: Must hold a valid South African driver’s license
✅ Building Security Expertise: Strong knowledge of securing premises and property
✅ Physical Fitness: Must be fit and will undergo a physical assessment
✅ Situational Awareness: Ability to detect suspicious activities or individuals
✅ First Aid Knowledge: Basic medical response skills
✅ Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication
✅ Firearms Competency: Knowledge of firearms will be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities
✔ Park Security: Ensure the safety of Kruger National Park’s premises and infrastructure
✔ Monitoring & Surveillance: Watch for and report any suspicious activities
✔ Visitor Control: Record details of all visitors entering the park
✔ Access Management: Guard entrances and exits, ensuring only authorized personnel enter
✔ Illegal Activity Prevention: Conduct random searches of vehicles for unauthorized items
✔ Crowd Control: Manage large gatherings and ensure order at entry points
✔ Routine Patrols: Regularly check assigned areas to prevent unauthorized entry
✔ Emergency Response: React quickly to security threats or incidents
✔ Incident Reporting: Provide detailed reports to security supervisors
