Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
1. SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) Management
- Implement and maintain the SHE management system within the business unit.
- Keep SHE files updated with accurate information.
- Ensure SHE appointments align with the appointment plan and remain current.
- Identify and report SHE risks, actively mitigating potential hazards.
- Update emergency response and evacuation plans.
- Coordinate evacuation drills to ensure preparedness.
- Manage the identification and safe handling of hazardous and dangerous goods.
- Ensure facility permits and certificates remain up to date.
- Coordinate and execute monthly SHE inspections according to the compliance plan.
- Organize and lead weekly and monthly toolbox talks.
- Conduct training sessions aligned with SHE requirements.
- Assist with internal and external SHE audits.
- Schedule and coordinate SHE surveys.
- Record and report SHE non–conformances.
- Manage and follow up on workplace injuries and compliance reports.
2. Blue Area Management
- Implement and maintain Blue Area SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Ensure Blue Area layouts comply with SOP requirements.
- Support Blue Area chairpersons in conducting meetings according to SOPs.
- Maintain updated SHE and 5S templates weekly.
- Display and update Wellness, 5S, and SHE information within the Blue Area.
3. 5S Management (Workplace Organization System)
- Implement and sustain the 5S methodology in the business unit.
- Ensure 5S files are accurately maintained and updated.
- Assist in the creation and execution of 5S standards.
- Coordinate 5S zone layouts to maintain organized workspaces.
- Update and manage the 5S standards register.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual 5S audits as per schedule.
- Organize red tag events to manage non-essential items effectively.
- Conduct 5S training initiatives within the unit.
- Identify and report 5S non-conformities, assisting in resolution efforts.
- Maintain and oversee red-tag areas.
- Compile and present 5S performance reports based on set SOPs.

Essential Skills and Attributes

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 (Matric).
- SAMTRAC Certification (compulsory for occupational safety roles).
- A Diploma in Health and Safety (preferred but not mandatory).
