Key Responsibilities and Duties
As a Storeman, you will play an essential role in the efficient and organized management of stock and materials. Here’s what you’ll contribute to the team:
Inventory Management and Stock Control
- Receiving and Quality Assurance
Ensure all incoming stock and purchased items are received with accurate documentation. Verify that the quality of materials meets company standards and that the quantity aligns with delivery notes and purchase orders. - Storage and Security
Safely store items in designated warehouses and secure areas to prevent damage or loss. Maintain an organized storage system that allows for efficient stock retrieval. - Stock Issue and Rotation
Issue items accurately to various departments, ensuring stock control through proper documentation and systematic stock rotation to minimize waste or expired materials. - Inventory Audits
Conduct monthly stock counts, as well as periodic cycle counts, to ensure accuracy. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies, reporting these findings to management to maintain reliable inventory levels.
Warehouse Organization and Best Practices
- Warehouse Maintenance and Housekeeping
Keep the warehouse organized and tidy, following housekeeping standards aligned with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines to achieve a high scorecard rating. - Labelling and Stock Tracking
Maintain an accurate and updated labelling system for each inventory item, ensuring ease of identification and minimizing time spent on locating items. - Pallet Management with CHEP
Manage the CHEP pallet system according to Tigerbrands’ best practices to optimize inventory movement and storage efficiency.

Supplier Liaison and Communication
- Coordination with Suppliers
Act as the point of contact with suppliers regarding stock issues, delivery discrepancies, and receipt confirmations, ensuring smooth communication and timely stock replenishment.
Qualifications and Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates should have the following skills and experience:
Essential Skills and Educational Background
- Educational Requirements
A Matric certificate is essential for this position. Additional qualifications, such as a Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, will be highly advantageous. - Experience and Industry Knowledge
A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a stores or warehouse environment is required. Familiarity with inventory management systems and warehouse operations is preferred. - Technical Proficiency
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is essential for tracking stock levels, maintaining records, and coordinating with suppliers and team members effectively.
