Purpose of the Role
The primary goal of the General Worker role is to assist RME Construction teams with maintenance and construction tasks. The successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Qualifications and Skills Required-General Worker
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 9.
- Relevant experience (at least six months) will be an advantage.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically fit and pass a medical examination.
- Able to work in challenging environments, including adverse weather conditions, confined spaces, and at heights.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Fluent in English.
- Health and safety conscious.
- Alert, dependable, and safety-oriented.
- Willing to work extended hours, relocate, or operate outside the designated depot if needed.
- Ability to work effectively in noisy environments.
Key Responsibilities – General Worker
As a General Worker, you will perform a variety of tasks to support construction and maintenance teams. Your duties will include:
- Following instructions from the Supervisor or Team Leader.
- Ensuring punctuality and maintaining a sober work habit.
- Handling, loading, and offloading materials safely.
- Cleaning job sites by removing weeds, sweeping floors, and disposing of rubble or excess materials.
- Using hand tools effectively in a construction environment.
- Maintaining and cleaning tools after use.
